Dundalk travelled to Suttonians on Sunday in great numbers in what turned out to be a fantastic and thrilling encounter in all age groups. This was their second league game of the season and they were delighted to be part of Sutton’s launch of their new girls kit and the festivities that came with it.

Under 10’s – A strong and dependable team with plenty of subs made the journey to Dublin and it was fantastic to see so many parents there to cheer on our girls. The Under 10’s started strongly with Lily McEntegart running in a try almost from the first whistle. More tries were followed by Tara Herr, Seona Halligan, and Natasha Swan. It was fantastic to see great enthusiasm from the new girls this season, Molly Keenan, Natasha Swan, Sarah Cahill, Hazel Malone and Isabel Holmes. Reliable defending as usual from Sophia Murdock, Bronagh Hughes, Ruth McGee and Sophie Woulfe. The game ended in a draw and the girls come away with a league point for their brave efforts. Under 12’s – our very fast paced under 12’s got stuck straight into the game from the first play, signalling to Suttonians their intentions from the get go. This team is made up of some very fast paced girls and their speed and ball handling skills were text book – much to the delight of coaches, Linda Valentine and Sharon Toal. Superb passing and accleration in possession meant Dundalk girls were always in control of this game and at half time they had a very comfortable lead against the battling Suttonians. Dundalk defending never let Suttonians get the break they tried so hard to get and it was catch up for most of the second half for Sutton. This team oozes skill, self belief and team spirit and more than did their club proud against a solid, hungry Sutton side. All girls played with great dedication and gave it their absolute best. Under 15’s – having been very narrowly beaten in their first league encounter by Navan, Dundalk senior girls, had to up their game for what they knew was always going to be a close encounter with Suttonians senior girls. The girls travelled in numbers and were in good spirits having worked on ball handling errors that let them down in their last encounter. The game started off fast and Suttonians were keen to record a score fast on their home turf. It was nail biting stuff from start to finish. An incredibly fast, exciting game to watch with both teams matching score after score.
