A near full strength Dundalk U-17’s team had an easy victory at home to North Kildare on Saturday when they scored a total of 10 tries.For the second time this season loose head prop Dylan Quigley scored the first try for Dundalk after some good work from fellow forwards Ryan Meegan, Ciaran McConnon and Evin Quigley. Team captain Tadgh McElroy scored a total of five tries with the first two coming in the 15th minutes to leave Dundalk 17-0 ahead.Scrum half Andy Williams scored his first try of the season when Cillian Quinn cleverly chipped the ball over the Kildare backs for Williams to run on to. When North Kildare did threaten Dundalk’s line some good defending by Alex Cahill, Evin Quigley, Barney McElroy, Aaron Quinn and Niall Malone cleared the danger.

Dundalk finished of the half with a third try from Tadgh McElroy to leave the score a comfortable 27-0 at half time. The second half started off like the first finished, with a try from Tadgh McElroy to leave the score 32-0. North Kildare did try hard but simple handling mistakes lead to scrums where Dundalk were in control with a front row of Dylan Quigley, Niall Malone and Stephen McGivern. Dundalk also dominated the line out where lifting from Dylan Quigley and Stephen McGivern gave Evin Quigley the platform to win all Dundalk’s throw ins and several of North Kildare’s. Stephen’s Arrowsmith’s kicking from hand was good throughout and enabled Dundalk to exploit North Kildare’s weaknesses.


Dundalk’s back line made a number of promising attacks with some good running by Keith Dorian, Dan McWall and Aaron McGuigan before David Durnin flew down the wing for Dundalk’s seventh try. Dundalk’s eight try was Tadgh McElroy’s fifth and the ninth was added by Barney McElroy. Barney McElroy played well throughout the game and his score was well taken. The tenth was scored by Stephen McGivern to leave the score 56 – 0 at full time. Others to feature for Dundalk were Keith Dorian, Oisin Duff and Sean Lawless.Next up for Dundalk is a tough away match to Ashbourne this weekend.
